COLOUR BASICS IS ABOUT TO GET BETTER…
At its most basic, the BTC Colour Cube Advent-ure isn’t just a countdown to Christmas.
It’s a month-long Mini Course with a colour-by-colour breakdown of the 12 Hues, 6 Tints, 6 Shades, and 3 Achromatics that connect together in BTC’s 3 x 3 x 3 3D Basics Colour Cube.
Sure, this Colour Cube is pretty. But it’s also ‘power of 3’ powerful, the signature icon of the BTC brand, and the gateway framework for the entire BreakThroughColour system.
The Basics Cube is one of the six 3D models you can build yourself using my free downloadable resource, The BTC Colour Cube Starter Set. And if you’re a BTC Colour Card collector, chances are you’ve already built a full-sized Basics Cube like the one I’m holding in the photo above.
Starting December 1, I’ll be showcasing the Basics Cube like never before
This Advent-inspired challenge will debut an all-new collection of individual DIY Mini Colour Cubes.
Daily email deliveries will give you a focused look at each of these Basics Cube colours on their own, not just what they are, but why they are. Each email will also include a ‘key’ to show you exactly which panels you’ll need and how they match together to complete your daily Cube construction. You’ll also get clues about how the codes on each panel reveal other colour connections with other Cubes in your growing collection.
Building a cute little Colour Cube every day for the 24 days before Christmas is going to be plenty of fun. I did it with an Advent series on Instagram in 2022. Here’s how that finished, with traditional Christmas colours…
But the 24 Mini Cubes I made then made it well past the holidays.
This double dozen is permanently perched on a shelf above my desk, along with an assortment of other colour tools and materials that can sometimes make my workspace a delightfully cluttered but always colourful corner...
But wait, there’s more… as in ‘more than 24.’
The biggest part of this 2024 Advent-ure will come after Christmas.
Registration includes a bonus trio of three final Mini Cubes. Spoiler, they won’t be the most colourful Cubes in the collection, but when it comes to colour in 3D, they’re the not-so-colourful colours that give all the Hues their diverse moods, and they’re the Value-able axis of every BTC colour space.
Keep reading for a more detailed breakdown of how this countdown will count us down to the end of 2024, as we work and play our way through all three dimensions of this 3 x 3 x 3 3D Basics Colour Cube, building what I know will be your new favourite colour tool in 2025…
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS…
STEP 1 :: SIGN UP
Register for the BTC Colour Cubes Advent-ure before Registration closes on Saturday, November 30, 2024 (or as I like to call it, ‘Advent-ure Eve’).
STEP 2 :: PRINT YOUR PDF
On Saturday, December 1, I’ll send you an email with your complete Advent-ure Colour Cubes PDF, a downloadable document similar to the BTC DIY Colour Cubes Starter Set.
And BTW, if you haven’t built your Starter Set Yet, what are you waiting for? It’s a free prelude to this premium Advent-ure, and it’ll get you warmed up and ready for the daily build construction zone coming in December.
The premium difference between the free Starter Set six and this main event Mini Course is this:
Instead of panels for just six cubes, this holiday Advent-ure version will have 144 different Colour Cube panels, enough to score, cut, fold, match, tuck, and build a total of 24 new Colour Cubes.
You can cut the Cube panels as you need them, or cut them all at once. Just don’t put your Colour Cubes together until each daily Colour Cube colour is revealed in the daily Advent-ure emails.
STEP 3 :: BUILD YOUR FIRST 3 COLOUR CUBES
To give you the first three days to print your PDF and get a jump on the game, the Day 1 email will tell you which Cubes to build for Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.
The Day 1 email (and all the other emails to follow) will also include specific instructions for exactly how to arrange the panels of each Cube before you assemble it.
Each Cube represents one single colour in the Colour Basics gamut, but not all the panels are the same. Putting each Colour Cube together correctly from the start will lay the foundation for a ‘breakthrough’ finish!
STEP 4 :: ON DAY 4, BUILD CUBE 4, AND SO ON…
A second email will follow on Day 4 (December 4), revealing the next Colour Cube colour, and instructions for its assembly.
Daily emails will follow after that, revealing a new random Colour Cube colour every day.
Your daily Advent-ure assignment is to find the panels for each Colour Cube and put them together correctly.
Keep your completed Cubes in a special place as your Advent collection grows. Display them in your studio, line them up on a shelf (with an elf?), or add them to your Christmas tree, like me! Here’s what my tree looked like as I completed the 2022 Advent Colour Cube collection…
Before you know it, you’ll be at…
STEP 24 :: COMPLETE YOUR FINAL COLOUR CUBE
By the time we get to Christmas Eve, December 24, you will have a complete collection of cleverly-coded Colour Cubes.
Clever you!
Wait… did I say 24?
It’s true, a traditional Advent Calendar has 24 daily doors. And starting December 1, I’ll be revealing a series of 24 individual Colour Cubes that highlight BreakThroughColour’s most basic Hues, Tints, and Shades.
But here’s the ‘breakthrough’ bonus…
I MEANT 27…
BTC is all about the 'power of 3,' and if we’re talkin’ Basics, we’re talkin’ 3 x 3 x 3.
To get through the Basics of BTC before the end of 2024, we’re going to need more than 24 days.
…BECAUSE 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
The ‘Advent’ collection will count us down to Christmas.
But after Christmas, we’ll need three extra days (and three extra Colour Cubes) to complete the game, turning this Christmas countdown into a full-gamut year-end finale!
Wait… do these little ornament icons tell us which Colour Cube colours will be revealed on each of the 27 days?
Of course not! 😉 Where’s the Advent-ure in that?
But they do show all of the 12 Hues, 6 Tints, 6 Shades, and 3 Achromatics that are in the 3 x 3 x 3 Basics Cube, and counting our way through all of these colours is what this challenge is all about.
Here’s a peak at some of the prototypes I made getting ready for this year’s challenge…
These are just six of the 27 unit Cubes that we’ll be building, a fun way to add some extra 'Happy' to your 'Hue-lidays.'
But they're not just random colour blocks, and they're not just for Christmas.
With an extra colour on every side of every Colour Cube, this debut Advent-ure set is more than the sum of its parts.
Play along with me as we unbox the Basics Cube like never before, not only building these colourful little Cubes at Christmas, but building your colour confidence every day of the year.

LET’S MAKE THIS A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER!
Here’s a summary of all the important dates…
Registration closes November 30.
All registered players will receive the first Advent-ure email on December 1.
This will include the complete print-and-play PDF with all the panels for all the Colour Cubes, as well as instructions for the first three Colour Cubes.
The remaining emails, randomly revealing a new Colour Cube colour every day, will go out daily starting December 4.
The final email for the Advent-ure collection of 24 Colour Cubes will go on December 24.
And the bonus emails for the final three Colour Cubes will follow after Christmas starting December 27.
By the time this colourful Advent-ure is finished, you’ll have a completed Colour Basics Mini Colour Cube collection to end 2024, and a completely new outlook on colour to break through into 2025.
The perfect mix of puzzle and palette, it’s a little colour learning and a lot of colour fun!
I sure hope you’ll join me and other colour keeners from around the world for this end-of-the-year event experience…
