The Colour Room is the newest ‘breakthrough’ project from BreakThroughColour.
Not a finite course, but an ongoing online space that’s part creativity gym, mixing lab, palette playground, resource library, and full gamut chat lounge, designed to connect to wherever you work and play with colour in your real world: art studio, classroom, design space, kitchen table, coffee shop, cottage…
More than a Membership, The Colour Room is destined to support a growing creative movement for Artists, Teachers, and Explorers ready to break free from outdated colour rules and find a better flow using the ‘breakthrough’ tools and training that BTC has always been known for.
Exactly ten years after BreakThroughColour’s Colour Cards and Cubes debuted to the world via Kickstarter in June 2015, my vision for The Colour Room was quietly previewed via email to BTC Subscriber insiders in early July 2025.
Now, a core group of Founding Members are ‘in the room,’ working alongside me and each other to build something fresh, playful, and deeply practical, a space where we can all explore colour with confidence, through coaching and peer-to-peer connection, reinforcing what we’ve learned so far, and unlocking new creative breakthroughs.

Colour • Connection • Community — every room needs a foundation, and just like the three dimensions of every BTC Colour Cube, these three pillars will support The Colour Room through meaningful learning, creative play… and of course, the colours themselves: a full gamut of 400 Hues, Tints, Shades, Tones, and Achromatics
The Core Practice Path — a 3x3 grid of mindful milestones to help you expand your visual vocabulary and navigate through every colour in the BTC system, colour by colour, code by code, and cube by cube
Extended Play Prompts — a growing collection of ‘roadside attractions’ to complement your colour journey without taking you too far off track (or maybe coax you out of that colour comfort zone that’s become a little too comfortable), and deepen your personal colour fluency through guided exploration and playful discovery
live & interactive opportunities — with a dynamic schedule of casual studio sessions, live ZOOM hang-outs, AMA-style chats, special guest events and challenges, The Colour Room will be the place for a little (and sometimes literal) mix, and a whole lot of mingle
a private community platform — as a concept, The Colour Room will be an open and inclusive space, but its virtual walls will be just enough to give us the focus of a forum that serves and supports its Members, always accessible for everyone to connect, share, and grow, without the distractions of Big Social

a digital library — ‘Members Only’ access to BTC’s best online and downloadable resources, including mini lessons, print-and-play PDFs, and reference archives, free on-demand and yet-to-be previewed premiums to add to your colour tool kit
BTC’s Colour Cards and Cubes collection — bring your official BTC Colour Cards and Cubes if you’ve got ‘em, or get front-of-the-line access to get ‘em if you don’t, via exclusive upcoming print runs and beta deck previews
